Meet The Races of the Twisted Realm

Humans

The most widespread of all races, humans can be found in nearly every corner of the Twisted Realm. Often compared to a relentless tide, they expand and endure where others cannot. Their strength lies in adaptability, able to survive in harsh environments, reshape themselves to fit nearly any culture, and carve out a place wherever fate leads them.

Elves

An ancient race that walked the Twisted Realm long before the rise of humanity, Elves have played a pivotal role in shaping the world’s history and landscapes. Though often regarded as tall, graceful, and timeless in their beauty, no two Elves are ever truly alike. The chaotic magical energies of the realm have altered many over the ages, giving rise to diverse lineages and striking variations, each with their own gifts, traditions, and destinies.

Dwarves

Among the oldest peoples of the Twisted Realm, the Dwarves have endured nearly as long as the Elves. Known for their resilience, ingenuity, and tireless work ethic, they are builders, miners, and craftsmen of unmatched skill. Yet their history is marked by hardship, few races have borne the scars of the realm’s corrupting magical energies as heavily as the Dwarves. This legacy has made them wary and, at times, difficult companions, but also fiercely determined survivors who carve strength from struggle.

The Skynned

Once members of other races, the Skynned were forever transformed by the volatile magic of the Twisted Realm. Shaped by forces beyond their control, they have become hybrids, beings whose bodies and souls are fused with the essence of other creatures. This metamorphosis has created a wide variety of Skynned lineages, each distinct in form and nature. Among the most common are the feline grace of the Catskyn, the draconic might of the Dragonskyn, the shadowed allure of the Demonskyn, the feral strength of the Wolfskyn, and the serpentine cunning of the Snakeskyn.

Though their origins lie in loss and change, the Skynned embody the unpredictable spirit of the Twisted Realm itself: diverse, powerful, and endlessly fascinating.

Orcs

The Orcish peoples are many and varied, spread throughout the Twisted Realm in diverse clans and communities. Far more intelligent and resourceful than outsiders often believe, Orcs are every bit as capable as other races in matters of craft, strategy, and leadership. Yet their greatest strength is also their greatest curse: an acute susceptibility to the realm’s shifting magical energies.

When touched by this volatile power, Orcs can be twisted toward cruelty or violence, their societies fracturing into harsh tribal cultures. Still, not all Orcs follow this path, many strive to resist the realm’s influence, forging civilisations that are as resilient and ambitious as any in the Twisted Realm.

The Fey

Mysterious and seldom encountered beyond whispers and old tales, the Fey are a people of legend within the Twisted Realm. Rarely seen in great cities or crowded settlements, they dwell instead in hidden places where the magic of the realm runs deepest. Unlike most races, the Fey possess an innate harmony with these shifting energies, granting them remarkable control over magic and shielding them from the corruptive changes that plague others.

Yet this gift is also their curse. Their resilience against the realm’s chaos has made them coveted and hunted, forcing the Fey to live ever-watchful and apart. Elusive and cautious, they remain guardians of ancient secrets, moving unseen through the world while shaping it in subtle, often unrecognized ways.
